Without your kind donation, a child will be left without not just a gift this Eid, but also food and a safe place to sleep. We cannot allow this to happen and we, as well as the orphaned children your donation will help, would greatly appreciate your support.

An Eid Tradition

In celebration of the end of Ramadan, it is traditional for elder family members to give gratefully received gifts to younger children in the family. Eid gifts for children are often reflective of the season just passed and include plenty of tasty treats to enjoy on the Festival of Breaking the Fast and gifts that encourage meaningful use such as activity books and notepads.

Eid is not a time to give extravagantly, instead, gifts exchanged should be thoughtful and considerate and while saving is encouraged for treating our children at Eid, you should never spend outside of your means.

Donations received today will ensure Orphans in Need can distribute your Eid presents to orphan children looking forward to the festival of Eid this year. Please give today and help us bring a smile to the faces of children in need across the world.

Before the Eid ul-Fitr prayers are made, it’s time to pay Fitrana or Zakat ul-Fitr for 2021, the donation of food that ensures those living in poverty can enjoy a staple meal on this Festival of Breaking the Fast.

Fitrana is only a small contribution but can make a world of difference to those living in poverty and the Fitrana meaning is to ensure everyone can celebrate together after a month of day-fasting and sacrifice.

What is Fitrana?

Fitrana is the donation made when Muslims who have completed their Ramadan fast has food in excess of their needs. Traditionally Zakat ul-Fitr was a contribution made in a food staple, such as rice and flour. However, as it’s difficult to arrange for small amounts of staple food to reach distant communities, Fitrana charities such as Orphans in Need take your monetary donation and distribute this as food to families living in poverty.

How Much Is Fitrana 2021 in the UK?

The payable Fitrana 2021 UK total is calculated at £3 from every able-bodied Muslim. This is the amount equivalent to one saa, or four times the amount of food that can be scooped up with both hands together and was designated by the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).

Fitrana or Zakat ul-Fitr is a time-sensitive donation and Orphans in Need need to know your intention to donate your Fitrana before Eid ul-Fitr.

If you are donating your Zakat ul Fitr 2021 amount, please do so in advance of Eid and let Orphans in Need know the intent of your donation so we can distribute food to the communities in need.

This is Ibtesam Altarabilsy

This is Daddy Mammy Coker

As part of our visit to Sierra Leone we spoke to many children in the hope of finding out more about the lives of orphans in Freetown. We asked the usual questions about their favourite subjects, their hobbies and what they want to be when they grow up.

This is Yusupha

Yusupha is the mother of 4 children. Yusupha’s husband passed away in 2015 from a stroke after this, she became a widow and her children became orphans. Because there was now no sole breadwinner in the family, Yusupha struggled to provide food. Her daily income only carried the family through a day or two at most.

Providing a safer future for Widows and Orphans in need

To make it easier for you to donate we provide the option for one-off £30 donations or monthly recurring £30 donations that allow us to better plan for providing future support. Donors can also provide a one-off donation of £360 (less than a £1 a day) that will ensure a family in need is given food parcel support for an entire year (12 months).
