Amongst the dozens of Sunday league matches taking place at Low Hall Sports Ground Walthamstow E17, there is a game with a different sparkle. Taking place every other week, Flamengo FC put on matches against teams from all over London to raise money for charity.
The club have been raising money by playing 11 a side charity matches since Boxing Day. What started off as a single game has now been spreading like a phenomena. Their recent encounter against Sahara Grills Sweet as Jalaibi raised £376.02 for Orphans in Need and many sponsors have joined this project to show their support. A total £1057.09 has been raised to date.
Flamengo have a couple of fixture dates available between now and May when this charity venture will finish. If you would like to combine your passion of football with raising money for a fantastic cause get in contact with Sahir to book a place before they all go.
All teams participating will be drawn into a pot where one lucky team will play against Flamengo in May at the London Tigers semi-professional stadium for the national Orphans in Need Cup.
